BubbleQue
June 23
Brisket and champagne are coming together to help kick off a school supply drive co-hosted by Altrusa DFW and Christmas is for Children.
The event is June 23 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the offices of RE/MAX Masters, located at 425 East Southlake Boulevard. Food and beverages from Central Market will be served.
For the eighth consecutive year, Altrusa DFW and Christmas is for Children are joining forces to sponsor a school supply drive to assist children from The Battered Women’s Foundation and other local children in need. The Battered Women’s Foundation is a non-profit organization that assists women and children in breaking the cycle of domestic violence. Last year they assisted more than 3,000 women and children.
The organizations need the public’s help with this project. There are currently more than 350 children on a waiting list for school supplies, and the drive’s goal is to provide a backpack filled with school supplies to each child.
People are asked to purchase any of the following supplies: Backpacks, loose leaf paper, one or two inch binders, spiral notebooks, graph paper, pencil bags, red, blue and black pens, pencils, rulers, colored construction paper, pocket folders with brads, colored pencils, 24 and 48 count crayons, highlighters, glue sticks, glue bottles, scissors – both blunt tipped and sharp tipped, washable markers and large erasers.
Supplies may be dropped off from June 23 to August 10 at collection boxes located inside Central Market or RE/MAX Masters.
If you don’t have time to shop, tax-deductible cash donations are being accepted. A $10 donation will buy 100 spiral notebooks, a $25 donation will buy all the school supplies for one elementary student, a $50 donation will purchase 10 backpacks and a $100 donation will completely fill four backpacks. Mail donations to Altrusa International Foundation, Inc. of DFW at P.O. Box 92163, Southlake, TX, 76092.
