Texas Health Presbyterian Allen delivered Allen’s first baby of 2011 to Mark and Molly Lively of Celina at 3:27 a.m. on Jan. 2.

Ian Mark Lively weighs six pounds 11 ounces and is 20.5 inches long.

The news that Ian was Allen’s New Year baby came as a surprise to his parents, Molly said, since they did not arrive at the hospital until Jan. 2.

“I thought we missed that boat for sure,” she said. “It’s awesome. I think it’s good luck.”

Molly said while she assumed Ian would be born earlier than his Jan. 8 due date because her other son, Grant, was eight days early, the couple never could have guessed he would have been the first born in Allen this year.

“Ever since we passed Christmas, I thought it could be any day,” she said. “So, Saturday morning, I started kind of feeling like things were happening, and then Saturday night, I started the real contractions at about 7:45, and we decided we better get to the hospital about one in the morning.”

The Livelys arrived at 2:45, and in less than 45 minutes, Ian was born in the same room as his little brother almost two years ago.

Mark and Molly met in Abilene, Molly’s hometown, while Mark, a Celina native, was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base and Molly was attending Hardin-Simmons University.

The couple married, and, in 2000, moved to Celina. Mark works in Frisco for the U.S. Postal Service, and Molly said she will be a stay-at-home mom until her children get older, and which time she will return to work.

“It’s a good area,” Molly said. “I think it’s really good for kids. There’s a lot of opportunities, a lot of good jobs in this area. the economy’s better probably here than in most places.”

Molly said Texas Health Presbyterian Allen, as with her last pregnancy, was very helpful through the birthing process, in which she used no pain medicine or epidural.

“Their whole staff is wonderful,” she said. “I know I probably couldn’t have done it as well with Grant, if it wasn’t for their support and help.”

" This is incorrect. Allen's first baby was born at the Allen Birthing Center on 1/1/11 at 2:11pm. "
