Lewisville chamber names student of the month
From staff reports
The Lewisville Chamber of Commerce recently named Southridge Elementary fifth-grade student Virginia Ramirez student of month. Ramirez was selected for being an outstanding student and role model to her classmates. Described as being friendly, helpful and dedicated, she is the daughter of Luis and Idalia Ramirez. She enjoys reading and taking care of her animals, and prides herself on her ability to help others. Ramirez is involved in several extracurricular activities including Chess Club, Student Council, Sharps (after-school music performance ensemble) and Drama Club. LISD's vision is for all students to enjoy thriving, productive lives in a future they create; Ramirez has goals to attend college and become an educator and Southridge is certainly working to help her achieved these goals.
Ramirez was honored during a luncheon March 23 where her family, teacher Laura Sida and Principal Julie Sheriff were in attendance along with Chamber of Commerce and Northstar Bank representatives.
"Virginia is a gem! Her positive attitude and love for learning shine through on a daily basis," Sida said. "She's got amazing family support, which will guide her through a successful academic experience."
