Local group volunteers at Camp Summit work day
From staff reports
On March 31, Camp Summit had its annual work day. Camp Summit is a residential or "sleep away" camp for children and adults with disabilities. With weeklong camp sessions, weekend sessions and respite days, campers are offered a wide variety of traditional camp activities in their barrier-free environment. The annual work day is used to prepare the camp for the campers, which includes preparing the grounds and cabins. Camp Summit is located in Denton County.
The Helping Farmers club from Lewisville High School participated at Camp Summit's annual work day. Because the club's mission is to provide students of Lewisville High School, with a safe, fun, and fair environment to obtain volunteer opportunities and hours and make a difference in the community, helping Camp Summit was a good opportunity for them. The club members worked hard weeding gardens, planting flowers and painting wooden decks. They were very proud to help the camp.
