Baseball: Marcus, Flower Mound preparing for playoffs
By Justin Thomas, jthomas@starlocalnews.com
Marcus' baseball team took its final steps of preparation for the playoffs Friday when the Marauders had their regular season finale at Hebron (results not available as of press time).
Marcus has been playing well of late, winning four consecutive in District 8-5A and six consecutive overall to secure the No. 4 seed.
Last Friday against the Farmers, the Marauders received another outstanding start from Colin Poche', who notched 12 strikeouts en route to a two-hit complete game shutout.
Flower Mound, meanwhile, closed its regular season Friday against Allen. The Jaguars (9-4) entered their finale tied with Plano East for second after defeating Plano West last Friday, 11-1.
Jack Moffit picked up the win for Flower Mound, throwing a complete game with seven strikeouts over six innings. Andrew Vinson recorded a team-high three hits for the Jaguars, while Tyler Pollak and Kyle St. Pierre had two hits and three RBIs apiece. Alec Landers also knocked in a pair of runs.
The playoffs get underway next Thursday or Friday for both Flower Mound and Marcus with bi-district round matchups against representatives from District 7-5A.
