LHS accounting team advances to state

Lewisville High School's accounting team that took first place in District UIL academic competition, went on to sweep regionals when they competed at Texas Tech University in Lubbock April 20-21. Individually, Nancy Nguyen placed first, Cindy Nguyen won second Jackie Herrera-Cachay earned third and Chad Finn took fourth. As a result of the win, the team advances to State competition, which will be held May 21 on the University of Texas campus in Austin.
"I am so proud of this group. LHS has had some wonderful accounting competitors in the past, but this is the best team we've ever had. They all work hard and are so cooperative," said Deborah Weldon, accounting coach. "I never know exactly how they will rank with each other because they are all strong. This is the first time we have swept first through fourth in Regional competition. A lot of their success has to do with their willingness to practice almost every Saturday morning since December. I bring donuts for Saturday practices and that's a lot of donuts."
