Cecilia Siemiaszko Szot was born in Gary, IN, June 23, 1912 to John & Lottie (Fialkowksi) Siemiaszko, and passed away peacefully on April 23, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Szot; son, Dennis L. Szot; granddaughter, Barbara Ann Beres; brothers, John, Joseph, and Walter Sokolowski; and sister, Helen Wilski.Cecilia is survived by her daughter, Gladys Martinez (Joseph); son, Dr. Frank Szot (Joan); daughter-in-law, Jeanne Szot (Dennis, deceased); brother, Benny Sokolowski (Helen); sister, Irene Czekala (Stanley, deceased); grandchildren, Beverly Beres, Robert J. Beres, John D. Beres (Kim), F. Scott Beres (Jennifer), Christopher Martinez (Kimberly), Brian (Janet) Szot, Gregory Szot, Dennis Szot (Amberle), Dr. Jeffery Szot, and Lauren Szot; 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She especially enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends and exchanging recipes. She enjoyed family gatherings and traveling to Florida and Louisiana to visit family. She rarely missed major events in the lives of her grandchildren.
Thank you to the caring staff at Cross Timbers Care Center, to Mercy Hospice, the caregivers of St. Philip's Catholic Church, and "Kyle", mom's favorite fireman.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 28th, at St. Philip's Catholic Church in Lewisville. Father John Stasiowski will officiate the Mass of Celebration of her life at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Philip's building fund or to a charity of your choice.
