Letter to the Editor: Irwin for mayor of Highland Village

Published: Monday, April 23, 2012 2:06 PM CDT
Knowing Bill Irwin for more than 14 years has been a privilege. He was chairman of the City of Highland Village Parks and Recreation Board during the two terms I served.

For years Mr. Irwin was a visionary for the parks board, working closely with our residents, the city park director and city council  with the planning and implementation of Unity Park and the Inland Trail system. While serving on Highland Village City Council, he has responded promptly and professionally with answers to issues in which I have had comment or concern. I have always found Bill to be passionate for Highland Village and an informed voice of reason on city issues. As mayor, Bill Irwin will continue to be a great leader for the city of Highland Village. Please join me in making this a reality by voting for Bill Irwin for Mayor of Highland Village on May 12!

I served on Highland Village City Council with Bill Irwin.

Not only was he extremely easy to work with and a consensus builder, he has a very deep knowledge of the history of our city based on his over 20 years experience serving the citizens of Highland Village.

Based on this extensive experience, he knows not only why we are in the good place we are, but also who got us here and how.

I believe this depth of knowledge would serve him extremely well as our mayor.

Please vote for Bill Irwin for Mayor of Highland Village.

To my Highland Village friends that were part of  the start-up of the Highland Village Area Baseball and Softball Association and to all that have been part of this association for the past 13 years I ask that you please vote May 12 in the Highland Village City election.

In the race for Mayor, Bill Irwin has my support,  and I hope you will give him your support as well.

Bill was a member of the HV City Council  during the development and ultimate start-up of the Highland Village Baseball and Softball Association. As an advocate for youth sports Bill was one of our leagues most vocal  supporters.  During those early years, and even now I truly believe that Bill Irwin was instrumental in getting our league approved by the HV City Council.

From the beginning Bill not only understood what our association's  purpose was but also what the needs of a start up association were Bill was always approachable, he was sincere in his passion for youth sports/city parks and he became a good friend during this process.

Thirteen years later it still brings a smile to my face to see that baseball players and softball players, of all ages playing ball on those once vacant fields behind Briarhill.

Vote for Bill Irwin he will  serve our city well as mayor.
