FORT WORTH -- Southlake Carroll's baseball team kept its state title aspirations alive Thursday night staving off the first of two elimination games in its best-of-3 regional finals series against Arlington Martin at Charlie Lupton Stadium on the campus of TCU.

The Dragons rebounded from Wednesday's Game 1 loss to defeat the Warriors, 2-0.

Greg Maisto continued his dominant postseason on the bump for Carroll, firing a complete game one-hit shutout. The lefty allowed just a single on a comebacker that grazed off his glove.

Maisto ran into trouble in the bottom of the third when he faced a bases loaded jam following a pair of walks and a Carroll fielding error. But with two outs, Carroll's Tyler Barnes tracked down a well-hit ball to deep center to make an over the shoulder catch.

The Dragons got the offense it needed early when Chris Altimont opened the contest with aleadoff walk and came around to score on a first-pitch run-scoring double with one out from Kenny Hill.

Hill will later score an insurance run in the sixth for Carroll, reaching on a walk before advancing to second on a sacrifice, stealing third and scoring on a sacrifice fly from Barnes.

The series concludes with Game 3 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at TCU with the winner advancing to state next weekend in Round Rock.
