FMHS Theatre Announces 2012-13 Season Schedule
By Amy Carlton, FMHS Theatre Boosters
FLOWER MOUND, Texas ---- Comedy and adventure are the underlying themes in the four productions slated for the 2012-13 season of the award-winning Flower Mound High School Theatre Department.
The year opens October 11-13 with Charley’s Aunt, a three-part comedy widely regarded as one of the most sensational and entertaining farces of all time. Presented by the Dramatic Paws, Charley’s Aunt follows college undergraduates Jack and Charley in a tale of young love and preposterous deception in their search of a chaperone for a proper visit from their girlfriends. Curtain time each performance is 7:00 p.m. with tickets $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for students.
The Dramatic Paw ‘Prents will perform the magical adventure tale, The Hobbit, on December 6-7 at 7:00 p.m. Based on the classic tale by J.R.R. Tolkien, hobbit Bilbo Baggins enjoys rousing adventure stories and his love of a good story puts him on a perilous quest that comes to greatly benefit all of the hobbits who inhabit Middle Earth. Tickets for the evening performances of The Hobbit are $5.00.
Fresh from Broadway, the seven-time Tony Award-nominated Legally Blonde the Musical hits the FMHS stage for four performances February 1-4. Based on the film of the same name, the all singing and dancing feel-good comedy moves with Elle Woods from the social whirl of California campus life to Harvard University’s halls of justice and proves being true to one self never goes out of style. Curtain for the all-school musical is at 7:00 p.m. for February 1, 2 and 4 shows, with a 2:00 p.m. matinee performance on February 3. Tickets for each performance are $15, $12 and $8. Legally Blonde the Musical is not suitable for young children.
The FMHS Theatre Department season closes with the Dramatic Paw ‘Prents whirlwind trip through forgotten myths and unusual legends in Around the World in Eight Plays scheduled May 2-4. A band of roaming gypsies guides the fast-paced journey through quirky and sometimes bizarre tales that are filled with magic, mystery and morals. Each of the three performances begins at 7:00 p.m. and tickets are $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for students.
All four FMHS Theatre productions will be staged at the Jack and Donna Clark Auditorium at Flower Mound High School (3411 Peters Colony Road, Flower Mound). Tickets are available the week of the shows during lunch hours at the high school. The auditorium box office opens one hour before the curtain time of each performance. Additional sale dates for Legally Blonde the Musical will be announced in January.
