City to spray for mosquitoes Wednesday and Thursday: Ninth resident tests positive for WNV

The city of Frisco has announced a ninth resident has tested positive for West Nile virus, resulting in plans to spray for mosquitoes in another area of the city. The case was confirmed by Collin County health authorities.
Ground spraying will take place in an area bordered by Panther Creek Parkway, the railroad tracks, Research Road and Legacy Drive two nights in a row. A map of this area can be seen here.
Spraying will take place between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on consecutive nights. The first spraying will take place from Sept. 19 to Sept. 20, and the second night of spraying will take place from Sept. 20 to Sept. 21. Frisco's West Nile virus response plan calls for ground spraying to take place in the general area surrounding a resident's home after he or she tests positive for the virus.
City of Frisco officials urge residents to practice four precautionary steps outlined by Texas Department of State Health Services commonly referred to as the "Four D's." These precautionary steps are: drain all standing water, dress in long sleeve clothing when outdoors, use mosquito repellants containing DEET, and avoid outdoor activities during night and early morning hours when mosquitoes are most active.
